About SmartCryptoCalcs
SmartCryptoCalcs is an independent publisher of free cryptocurrency and DeFi calculators, plus plain-English guides for self-directed investors in the United States. We are not a brokerage, an exchange, a custodian, or a financial advisor. We do not hold your funds, route trades, or sell signals. We build the math tools we wish we had when we started buying crypto, and we publish them on the open web so you can use them without an account, an email signup, or a subscription.
Who we are
SmartCryptoCalcs is an independent publisher built by long-term crypto investors for other crypto investors. The site is operated and maintained by a small editorial team rather than a firm, a fund, or an agency. We have no affiliation with any exchange, token issuer, validator, layer-1 foundation, or wallet vendor, and we do not accept payment from any of them to influence what we publish or how our calculators score outcomes.
Because crypto is a fast-moving and often confusing space, we think the people writing about it should be people who actually use it. Members of our editorial team hold positions in major assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum, run nodes, stake, use hardware wallets, file their own crypto taxes, and have lived through more than one bear market. We mention this not to brag but to be honest about our perspective: we are practitioners, not press-release rewriters.
What we offer
SmartCryptoCalcs hosts more than ten free calculators covering the situations most US-based crypto investors run into:
- Dollar-cost-averaging (DCA) planners
- Profit, break-even, and ROI calculators
- Staking and validator reward estimators
- DeFi yield, APR/APY, and impermanent-loss calculators
- Gas fee and network cost estimators
- Crypto tax estimators (capital gains and ordinary income)
- Mining profitability calculators
- Portfolio rebalancing helpers
Every calculator runs entirely in your browser. Your inputs, balances, cost basis, and projections never leave your device and are never sent to our servers. You do not need to create an account, link a wallet, paste a seed phrase (never do that anywhere), or connect an exchange API to use anything on this site.
Alongside the tools, we publish long-form guides that explain the concepts behind each calculator: how cost basis works under current IRS guidance, what makes a yield "real" versus inflationary, why impermanent loss can wipe out a juicy APY, how validator economics differ across chains, and so on. Guides are written and edited in-house and updated as the underlying mechanics change.
Editorial process
Articles on SmartCryptoCalcs are written and reviewed by the SmartCryptoCalcs Editorial Team. We refresh our calculator assumptions and key guide articles for 2026 conditions, and we cite primary sources (protocol documentation, IRS publications, federal and state regulator releases, on-chain data) when we make a numeric or legal claim. When figures change (block reward halvings, fee schedule updates, IRS form revisions, EIPs that affect gas costs), we update the affected pages and bump the "last updated" date you see at the top.
We do not publish sponsored articles, paid reviews, or token-shilling content. The site is supported by Google AdSense display advertising and, in the future, may include clearly labeled affiliate links (see our Disclaimer for details). Ad placements are kept out of the calculator interfaces themselves and are never shown above the fold on calculator pages.
What we are not
SmartCryptoCalcs is not:
- A registered investment advisor (RIA) or broker-dealer
- A money transmitter, exchange, or custodian
- A licensed tax preparer, CPA, EA, or law firm
- A signal service, trading bot, or portfolio manager
- A wallet provider or smart contract auditor
Nothing on this site is personalized financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. Crypto markets are extremely volatile and can move against you faster than traditional markets. Read our Disclaimer for the full risk discussion before relying on any output from our tools.
Our promise on privacy
Your numbers never leave your browser. The calculators are JavaScript that runs locally; we do not log your inputs, do not store your projections, and do not build a profile of you based on what you type into a form. The only data our servers see are standard anonymous request logs and, if you choose to write to us, the contents of your contact form submission, which is forwarded to the operator by email. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
How to contact us
The best way to reach us is through the form at /contact. We read everything that comes in and use it to prioritize new tools, fix bugs, and correct mistakes in our guides. We may not be able to respond to individual inquiries, but please do not let that stop you from sending typos, corrections, or feature requests. They genuinely help.
